Desert People: Australian Perspectives

Presented in partnership with the Australian Archaeological Association.

In this talk Peter Veth outlines his current research to identify and profile the early and successful settlement of the Australian deserts. He presents new data and evidence from sites located in the vast north-west rangelands extending from Ningaloo, through the Pilbara and into the vast dunefields and isolated ranges of the Western Desert. This project will bring innovative science and Indigenous knowledge together to develop new understandings of the 60,000 year custodianship of Australian deserts.
